The purchase event adds transaction ID, shipping tier, payment method, and coupon codes applied.
GA4 assigns each visitor a client ID stored in the _ga cookie with a two-year default expiration. This identifier persists across sessions and enables cross-visit behavioral analysis. The measurement protocol also captures the client’s IP address, which GA4 uses for geographic reporting before anonymizing (replacing the last octet with zeros).
Google’s consent mode allows pixels to adjust data collection based on customer consent state, but the default implementation still sends cookieless pings with reduced data when consent is denied.
